The museum is open seasonally from April through October.

All visits include an initial, short guided tour and then time to explore on your own.

The Joe K. Trail is a free, self-guided 1.5 mile loop through the North Park and back over the Lilly Run Bridge and back to the Lock House. This trail follows a portion of the railroad tracks that lead to the Conowingo Dam and takes you through a wetlands where coastal plain meets Piedmont plateau. See turtles, heron, eagles, ferns and native plants, wetlands, bridges and the the beautiful Susquehanna River. The trail begins at the top of the Lock House driveway - just follow the white blazes. Appropriate footwear and clothing and sprays to guard against ticks and mosquitoes is highly recommended.

Picnics and amenities


Picnic tables and scattered benches are available or you are welcome to bring a blanket for the lawn. There is no covered area, no barbecue, no electric and no water fountain.


Public restrooms are located in the brick building with the white columns at the top of the driveway. They are open approximately 9 am to 5 pm daily from April - October.
